Musical Movements

House Influences: I would add Avicii to this group because most of the music here is different and doesn't really have a defined style. Avicii is similar to this in that their music is different than most other styles that were popular at the time when this was released. He uses a combination of live instruments as well as some electronic beats to create his music. The music in this category has a more repetitive nature than most, and Avicii does this as well.

Virtual: I would Alvin and the Chipmunks to this group because they are a group of animated chipmunks that are a band. They have multiple movies, albums, and television shows based off of them. They even went on tour. Technology plays a huge role for this group as in all of their movies and television shows, the actual chipmunks need to be animated. The voices of the actors need to be altered to a high pitch state as well in order to sound more like chipmunks. Out of the categories presented, I feel that technology plays the largest role in this one.

Nineties: There are quite a few bands I could add to this group as this is a category of music I listen to most frequently. If I had to choose one, I would choose Oasis. Their song Wonderwall is a classic that almost everybody knows, and it was one of the first bands I thought of as I listened to Radiohead and the Cranberries. Oasis is a bit more subdued than Radiohead and the Cranberries, but they still have that nineties feel. They're music contains a lot of acoustic guitar, and their sound is unique much like that of other artists in this group. While the acoustic guitar is a constant within their music, they also have that rock feel as they use drums and electric guitars as well.

Punk: I would add Green Day to this group because they have a similar sound to the Ramones. They have the the classic electric guitar blasting throughout with the upbeat pace in their songs. Their song lyrics convey the idea of revolting against the norm and being your own person as well as how society is usually against you. Their most well known songs, American Idiot and Boulevard of Broken Dreams convey this. They follow the stereotypical punk ideal with their look as well. Green Day is most commonly associated with the punk movement and is considered to be a punk rock group.

Girl Power: I would add Pat Benatar to this category because she immediately came to mind when I was listening to Joan Jett's I Love Rock n Roll. She is a strong female as well who's music is very well known. She is a rock and roll artist who's music has that quintessential electric guitar solo that always comes in these types of songs. She fits in very well with this category as she represents girl power. She is an independent female artist who is doing what she loves.
